Legal Assistant/Law Clerk (5+ years)

Senior Legal Assistant/Senior Law Clerk (8+ years)

 

Looking for a family law position where your experience is valued and your workplace is supportive? Sherman Law LLP welcomes experienced Family Law Legal Assistants and Law Clerks seeking a long-term professional home where their skills and judgment are recognized. We particularly encourage applications from senior clerks (8+ years) seeking a stable, collaborative, and respectful work environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting, proofreading, and preparing family law documents (pleadings, motions, financial statements, net family property statements, certificates of disclosure, conference/mediation briefs)
  • Assisting with separation agreements, parenting plans, marriage contracts
  • Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, and court staff
  • Scheduling consultations, mediations, and court appearances
  • Tracking deadlines in the firm’s bring-forward system
  • Preparing estate planning documents (Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney) and assisting with estate administration/probate
  • Maintaining dockets and preparing accounts in PCLaw
  • Preparing Portal and CaseCenter filings
  • General legal administrative tasks (filing, scanning, document management)
  • Assisting with client intake and triage of new clients

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience as a Legal Assistant / Law Clerk in Family Law
  • 8+ years experience as a Senior Legal Assistant / Senior Law Clerk in Family Law
  • Legal Assistant / Law Clerk diploma, or combination of experience
  • Remote/Hybrid opportunity will be considered
  • Strong knowledge of Family Law Rules, Rules of Civil Procedure, Family Law Act, Divorce Act, Children’s Law Reform Act
  • Advanced proficiency in DivorceMate, PCLaw, Adobe Acrobat, CaseCenter, Estateably, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat Pro, SpeechExec Pro is an asset
  • Excellent communication, client service, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Typing speed: 60+ WPM
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • A polished and client-ready demeanor
  • Reliable judgment and a proactive approach to tasks
  • Commitment to maintaining an organized and efficient workflow

Receptionist/Legal Assistant (2+ years)

 

Looking for a receptionist role in a family law firm where your contributions are valued and your workplace is supportive? Sherman Law LLP welcomes experienced Legal Receptionists seeking a long-term professional home with a friendly, collaborative team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet clients and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner
  • Answer, screen, and route incoming calls efficiently
  • Assist with client intake and triage of new clients
  • Assist with client communications and routine inquiries
  • Schedule consultations, client meetings, teleconferences, mediations, and court appearances for lawyers
  • Manage lawyers’ calendars in Outlook
  • Receive and process mail and emails
  • Maintain office filing systems and assist with scanning and document management
  • Assist with client communications and routine inquiries
  • Support lawyers and staff with general administrative tasks
  • Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, and court staff
  • Scheduling consultations, mediations, and court appearances
  • Tracking deadlines in the firm’s bring-forward system
  • Maintaining dockets in PCLaw
  • Preparing Portal and Case Center filings
  • General legal administrative tasks (filing, scanning, document management)

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Legal Receptionist or in a similar administrative/legal support role
  • Knowledge of law office procedures, legal terminology, and court communications
  • Legal Assistant / Law Clerk diploma or combination of experience working in a law firm
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced legal office
  • Professional, positive, and team-oriented attitude
  • Familiarity with Outlook, PCLaw, Adobe Acrobat, CaseCenter, DivorceMate, Estateably is a benefit
  • Exposure to family law or estate administration is a benefit
